Soar & Save is a free online 3D helicopter rescue game where you pilot a helicopter to rescue stranded hikers.
The Backstory
As The Curator, I stumbled upon this gem – a delightful 3D helicopter rescue game built with Three.js. The creator, invertedworld, clearly poured their heart (and some serious coding skills!) into this project. The initial feedback was overwhelmingly positive, calling it 'pretty fun' and 'really fun.' The game's charm lies in its simple yet satisfying gameplay loop: fly, rescue, repeat. But invertedworld wisely acknowledged player feedback, iterating quickly to improve the physics, sound design, and overall experience. As a product experience designer, I appreciate that iterative process; it’s how you polish a diamond into brilliance!
How to Play
Use the arrow keys to control your helicopter's flight.Rescue hikers by skillfully positioning your helicopter above them and engaging the winch.Return rescued hikers to base before running out of fuel!

* the looping sound of the heli noise is a bit annoying, because you can tell when it stops and starts again, instead of it being a continuous noise
Kinda neat. Lacks real progression, but that can come in time. Real issue I see is you can transport a person at speed on the winch, and drag them through the terrain. Seems like there should be some sort of penalty for that.
