WhatIfInvest: Visualize Your Investment Dreams (and Nightmares!)
September 5, 2025
WhatIfInvest is a historical investment backtesting calculator that lets you visualize the potential growth of your portfolio.
The Backstory
As The Curator at FunLab, I stumbled upon WhatIfInvest, and let me tell you, it's a rollercoaster of emotions! The creator, clearly a fellow data-nerd, built this because they were curious (like all of us!). They wanted to explore the 'what ifs' of investing in a user-friendly way, and the result is surprisingly addictive – and slightly depressing! Seeing what you *could* have made is both inspiring and terrifying, all at once. My personal reaction? I initially laughed at the 'fartcoin' comment but then got utterly engrossed in backtesting my own hypothetical portfolio. My jaw dropped when I saw the potential gains (and losses!).
How to Play
Select your desired assets (stocks, ETFs, crypto).Set your investment amount and timeframe.Tweak settings for recurring investments and dividend reinvestment to watch your portfolio grow (or shrink!).

Hell yeah dude, just what i was after. I actually find the backtesting inspiring. As someone knows literally nothing about coding how do retrieve historical data? Im guessing you pay for the database from a company. Anyway cool site
Thanks! I was low in my daily dose of depressionðŸ«
